DDAC Biocide Render Cleaning
DDAC (Didecyldimethylammonium chloride) biocide is a quaternary ammonium compound used in soft washing to kill organic growth like red, green, and black algae, mold, lichen, and fungi on render without high-pressure damage.
How It Works & Key Properties
- Root-Level Treatment: It breaks down the underlying biofilm and kills spores rather than just washing the surface.
- Residual Protection: DDAC binds to the render and remains active, helping prevent regrowth every time it rains.
- Bleach-Free: Unlike sodium hypochlorite (bleach), it is non-bleaching and acid-free, making it safer for delicate monocouche or silicone-based renders when used properly.
- Long-Term Clean: It is a "clean-over-time" product; dead organic matter naturally weathers and washes away over several weeks to a few months.
Dilution & Application
- Maintenance Cleans: Typically diluted at a 1:50 ratio (1% concentration).
- Heavy Contamination: Typically diluted at a 1:25 ratio (2% concentration).
